This was my first time at Alamo. I thoroughly enjoyed my movie experience. Not to mention the quality of sound and site, the customer service second to none. I am going to experience all my movie excursions moving forward.
We normally really like visiting Alamo. However, the service last night was poor. We ordered popcorn before the movie started and it took more than 25 minutes to arrive and it was sub par. (The popcorn at the Winchester Alamo was incredibly good). Later, when I paid in cash, we never got our change back ($50 for a $38 check). I approached the server after the movie. He apologized and then gave me way too much change back. Not wanting to steal, I told him it was way too much. He relied on me to figure out what it should have been, only muttering "it's too late for math." It was really strange. Our other experience there was terrific when they did a special showing of the Three Amigos, giving us maracas and cap guns. It was a blast. The rating is an average of those two very different experiences.
I love the Alamo. The staff is always great, and the food is amazing. It is clear that they truly value customer service and want their patrons to have the best entertainment experience possible. The seats are situated so your view is not obstructed by the servers. I have been to other theatres that serve meals during films and that was not the case. Kudos to all!
The movie was amazing. The food was good. The staff was courteous and helpful. We had a great time and will be back. It’s an easy good time and the theatre wasn’t packed. I do like the assigned seating aspect as well. It makes the movies more like an event than just trying to catch a movie.
The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars because lately I'm finding it hard to have my servers remember to bring my drinks to me. They work hard, that much is clear. They just seem get overwhelmed when there is a full theater in my opinion.
I absolutely love the idea and execution behind the Alamo Drafthouse chain of theaters. Their food and drinks make for a unique atmosphere that other theaters are just beginning to adopt. The seating and table setup makes dinner and a movie a breeze to plan as you can have it all here. Their humor is on spot as the clips they show prior to a given movie are very entertaining. The beer selection is always heavily influenced by what's popular with locals and that is always a plus.
